We were there to help celebrate a decade of weddings & parties
Ten years. That’s how long Nicola and Adam have been hosting weddings and parties at The Venue Bowers Mill, and this year they threw one for themselves.
We’ve been lucky enough to bring the booth to the mill time and time again over the years. So when it came to marking ten years, we couldn’t wait to bring it back.
A mill with a story
The Venue Bowers Mill started life in the 1880s as a woollen mill, tucked into the countryside outside Halifax beside a lake and a stretch of woodland. Walk in today and the history is everywhere. Exposed brick, wrought iron pillars, those gorgeous stripped wooden floors. The Bowers Room, where the old carding and weaving used to happen, is now home to the dance floor, the long tables and some of the best parties we’ve ever been part of.
Our favourite bit of the story? Nicola and Adam got married here. So when they took on the mill in 2016, they already knew exactly how special a day here could feel. They’ve spent the last ten years making sure everyone else gets to feel it too.
No easy feat
Running a venue is no easy feat. We see a little of what goes on behind the scenes, and it’s early mornings, late nights and a hundred small jobs nobody ever notices because they’re done so well.
Making a venue a success is hard. Doing it for ten years, with the time, money and heart Nicola and Adam have poured into this place, is something else. You can feel it the second you walk through the door.
It’s the people
If you asked us what makes The Venue Bowers Mill, we wouldn’t start with the building. We’d start with the people.
It’s the staff. Some of the team have been here for years, and you can tell. They know every corner of the mill, they look after every couple like family, and they treat us suppliers like one of their own.
It’s the feel of the place. Warm, welcoming, never stuffy. We’re smiling before we’ve even unloaded the van.
When the mill turned ten, the whole family came back. Staff past and present, friends, couples who’d married here, and the suppliers who’ve shared the floor with this team over the years. Everyone who’s been part of the story, in one room.
Our booth on the night
We set up in our usual spot in the Bowers Room, with the party ready to start. The screen and the prints carried The Venue Bowers Mill logo and “10 Year Anniversary”, so every single photo marked the occasion.
And everybody made the most of it. Staff past and present, old friends, couples and suppliers, all piling in together, making memories and capturing a night ten years in the making.
Then everyone went home with their prints. Ten years of memories, one little print at a time.
Here’s to the next ten
We work at a lot of venues, and we love so many of them. But The Venue Bowers Mill holds a special place for us. Thank you, Nicola, Adam and the whole team, for having us back to help you celebrate.
